For my DS106 fake facebook account, I decided to create one for Cleopatra. I saw that we needed to do it on a historical figure, but knew that the feed would be taken over by male figures. Cleopatra was a very influential figure in Egypt. With the death of her came the fall of the Macedonian dynasty.
I had a lot of fun creating this page! I added some relevant friends and family to make it realistic to what it would be like if she had a profile today. I also added a few posts here and there interacting with both her husband, Mark Antony, and her father, Ptolemy XII Auletes.
Configuring the profile was not very difficult. Once I was able to collect important dates and people, it was pretty straightforward in regards to creating this facebook!
Next came the tweet. This was an easy site to work with. Everyone knows her by Cleopatra, so I figured that was a good handle for her. I wanted to mention the reasons that she is a historical figure, as I believe many are unaware of what she actually did! Also, the feminist in me took over for her to recognize that men were the stars of the show back then.
Overall, this was a fun assignment, and I enjoyed creating both the page and the tweet!
